ORCA at Edinburgh Science Festival

Members of the ORCA Hub team at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh were busy engaging with the public as part of the Edinburgh Science Festival last month.

Within the Edinburgh Science Festival, Heriot-Watt's 'Family Fun Day 2019' was also one of the events taking place as part of the University's 'Year of Health'. The event saw Scotland's Sports Performance Centre, Oriam, transformed into a maze of scientific workshops and interactive events designed to inspire the younger generations.

ORCA Hub's Dr. Katrin Lohan and Muneeb Ahmad, along with Heriot-Watt researchers, Christian Dondrup, Mark Khordi-Moodi, Calum Henning, hosted their own stand to talk about the ORCA Project and how robots are being used in the world today. Visitors to the stand were able to experiment with basic programming techniques to drive their own Cozmo robots around a 3D cityscape.
