Lorna Brown

Lorna is the Administrator for the ORCA Hub, based within the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. She is responsible for administering the Hub’s budget, coordinating capability demonstrations and Hub events in addition to providing general support across the five partner institutions. She also leads the Hub’s marketing and promotional activities.

Lorna’s background is in research grant administration, event management and university administration, having previously worked for the Digital Curation Centre, the School of Engineering and the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. She has previously worked on the 4C and FOSTER European Commission FP7 research projects, as well as multiple Jisc-funded projects for the Digital Curation Centre. She is an experienced event manager, previously responsible for coordinating the International Digital Curation Conference, Repository Fringe and Research Data Management Forum events at the University of Edinburgh.

Lorna holds a BA in Egyptian Archaeology from the University of Liverpool and also worked as a volunteer Project Manager for Raleigh International in Malaysian Borneo in 2016.
